Trust and Strength Through Him

School is starting up for me in a few days, and it has been a cause of a lot of worry and stress for me lately.  At this new school, I won't have any friends on my first day. And since I'm sometimes quite shy and introverted, I've worried myself a lot about making new friends.  Will they like me?  What if nobody wants to get to know me?  I don't want to be alone....

But I've reminded myself that with Jesus in my heart I will never really be alone.  And He wants us to hand all of our burdens over to Him!

Psalm 55:2
Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.

1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Psalm 68:19
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.

Proverbs 16:3
Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

If we put our trust in Him and decide to stop worrying, He will carry us and give us strength!  I hope that this post has helped you to remember that there is no reason to worry if Jesus is your Lord and savior, because writing this out has really helped and encouraged me to trust and believe.  He is always there and that wants to take our worries onto himself because He loves us  ♥

So I thought we could talk about bravery in this post. Being brave is easier said than done. It's hard to be brave, because we are afraid of the consequences. Fear is something that always holds us back. I think a lot of us misunderstand the meaning of what bravery really is. I don't know about you, but when I think of  a person being brave, I think of someone you who is fearless. Although, that's not the case. To be brave we must accept our fears but not let them cloud our minds from what is truly important. Being brave doesn't mean we have to do a heroic act of some sort. Just being brave enough to share our faith with those who want to know more, or even just saying "hi" to the new kid. Just being a light in a dark world is being brave. Bravery is something I've always struggled with. To tell you the truth I'm a scaredy-cat. In Deuteronomy 31:6 it says, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” I love that verse. God is specifically telling us that even when it's hard to be brave, he is right there with us to guide and to help us. He will never leave us. I'm so glad we have a God that can make even those who are afraid be brave.

“Without fear there cannot be courage.”
― Christopher Paolini

The song below is amazing! It's now one of my favs!

~Be Brave~

Switchfoot is one of my top favorite bands.  For one, they really have meaning to their songs.  I don't know about you, but many songs that are played on Christian Radio are so repetative that, even though they are worship songs, get so old they annoy me.  Switchfoot however back in 2013 Songwriter Jon Foreman announced that they would not be writing "Christian Songs" any more.  This was surprising, however  this article including an interview with Jon Foreman, explains their reasons, and makes me appreciate their music even more.  They chose to use their music as a way of reaching out to a different croud.  They chose to use their music as not just a way of worship, but a way of expressing their want to help those in need.  They chose to use their music to be a light into the world.

Blinding light

*below are the two most inspiring verses of the song*

Hey boy, don't believe them
Their old lies never could come true
Hey boy, don't believe them

Everything that they told you to

Hey boy, don't believe them

We're the nation that eats our youth

Hey boy, don't believe them

None of us are bulletproof

Hey girl, be yourself now
Don't believe what they told you to
Hey girl, be yourself now
Your skin's more than a pin-up suit
Hey girl, don't conform now
No one else's got soul like you
Hey girl, you're a strong one
But none of us are bulletproof

I'm not saying that todays artists such as Chris Tomlin or Lincoln Brewster are bad.  They just aren't to my taste in music, and I think that sometimes people could broaden their horizens and reach out to different audiences.  And that is why I like Switchfoot so much.
